House Speaker Puan Highlights Eight Issues of Public Concern
The Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, has highlighted eight issues of public concern that need to be addressed. This statement was made as part of her speech at the DPR RI Plenary Session at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8). “The DPR RI, through its oversight function, continues to ensure that the government’s performance has an increasingly positive impact on the people’s lives,” Puan stated. She then outlined the eight issues she identified as matters of public concern requiring follow-up. The first issue is the resolution of various legal cases. The second is the relaxation of policies regarding regional employee spending. The third concerns the expansion of employment opportunities and the protection of online transport and migrant workers. The fourth issue relates to anticipating forest and land fires (Karhutla) and the impact of prolonged drought on water availability and the sustainability of the agricultural sector. The fifth is the evaluation of budget governance and the implementation of national education. The sixth issue is the creation of a more conducive investment climate to drive growth in the real sector. The seventh is the matter of layoffs (PHK). Finally, the eighth issue is access to BPJS Kesehatan services.
