House Speaker: Eid al-Fitr Must Become a Moment to Strengthen Unity in Nation-Building

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, stated that the moment of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE should serve as an occasion to strengthen unity in order to build a better Indonesia. She also extended Eid al-Fitr greetings on 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah to all Indonesian people. “Eid Mubarak 1447 Hijriah. May we be among those forgiven and victorious, I seek forgiveness physically and spiritually,” said Puan in Jakarta on Friday. She invited Muslims to welcome the Day of Victory with joy after a month of fasting during Ramadan. Ramadan, she said, has tempered the self, cleansed the soul, and clarified the heart. “Now, Eid al-Fitr arrives, bringing us back to the purity of self. On this fitri day, let us open the doors of forgiveness to one another,” she stated. Furthermore, she requested that the government ensure the smooth running of the Eid al-Fitr moment, from seamless celebrations and transportation to all mudik and return flow infrastructure, as well as certainty of security and comfort for the public during the Lebaran holidays. To all Indonesian people, she wished a happy family reunion during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period. She hoped that all Muslims would welcome the Day of Victory with joy. “And to the entire society, happy gathering with family during this Lebaran holiday moment,” she said.
