House proposes budget rise

The House of Representatives plans to propose a budget
increase for legislators in July of Rp 1.105 trillion, comprising
Rp 760.98 billion for allowances and Rp 389.34 billion for the
House Secretariat.

This indicates the government is continuing to ignore the
interests of the public. In the case of the fuel subsidy, for
instance, the government used the budget deficit as an excuse,
resulting in fuel price hikes and higher prices for basic
necessities.

However, when it comes to increased allowances for
legislators, there always seems to be room in the budget. It is a
shame that with various crises plaguing the nation, including
malnutrition, fuel shortages and the high cost of education,
those in power continue to exploit public funds for their own
benefit.

Therefore, Indonesians should wake up and fight to replace
selfish officials with those who will respond to public
aspirations by applying an Islamic-based system of administration
immune to such exploitation.
