House Passes One Data Indonesia Bill as DPR Initiative

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has officially designated the One Data Indonesia Bill as a House initiative, ready for deliberation with the government. The decision was made during the 26th plenary session closing the 2025-2026 sitting period on Tuesday, July 21. In addition to the One Data Indonesia Bill proposed by the Legislation Body (Baleg), the DPR also approved a bill concerning the third amendment to Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ). The session was chaired by House Speaker Puan Maharani, accompanied by Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Sari Yuliati, and Saan Mustopa. “The time has come to ask, can the One Data Indonesia Bill proposed by the DPR Legislation Body be approved as a DPR initiative bill?” Puan asked, to which all meeting participants gave their approval. Unlike the One Data Bill, the LLAJ Bill was previously deliberated and proposed by the DPR’s Commission V. Following their formal adoption as DPR initiative bills, the government will now prepare a problem inventory list (DIM) and submit it to the DPR for joint discussion. Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has also granted permission for both bills to be discussed during the upcoming one-month recess. In addition to these two, the Asset Forfeiture Bill is set to be deliberated by the DPR’s Commission III. “Commission III has been conducting discussions for the past two months, including receiving public participation for the Asset Forfeiture Law,” Dasco stated. “Then there is the One Data Law and the Traffic Law, and a few others I cannot recall, they wish to continue discussions during the recess,” he added.
