House Passes One Data Indonesia Bill as DPR Initiative

The DPR’s 26th plenary session, closing the fifth session of the 2025-2026 term, officially designated two draft bills as DPR initiative proposals to be deliberated together with the government, on Tuesday (21 July).

The two bills are the One Data Indonesia Bill, proposed by the DPR’s Legislative Body (Baleg), and the third amendment to Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transport (LLAJ).

The session was chaired by Speaker of the House Puan Maharani, accompanied by Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Sari Yuliati, and Saan Mustopa.

“It is time for us to ask whether the bill proposed by the Legislative Body of the DPR on One Data Indonesia can be approved as a DPR initiative bill?” asked Puan, met with the approval of all attendees.

Unlike the One Data Bill, which was previously proposed by the DPR’s Legislative Body, the LLAJ Bill was previously deliberated and proposed by Commission V of the DPR.

Having officially become DPR initiative proposals, the government will next draw up a problem inventory list (DIM) and hand it over to the DPR for joint deliberation of both bills.

Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has also granted permission for both bills to be deliberated during the upcoming month-long recess. Besides these two, there is the Asset Forfeiture Bill, which will be deliberated by Commission III of the DPR.

“Commission III has in fact been holding deliberations for the past two months, in this case receiving public participation for the Asset Forfeiture Law,” said Dasco.

“Then there is the One Data Law and the Road Traffic Law, and several others that I cannot recall, which they wish to continue deliberating during the recess,” he added.
