House of Representatives to increase oversight of National Nutrition Agency audits following corruption scandal
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, stated that the legislature will increase its oversight regarding the governance audits of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) following alleged corruption cases involving three former leaders of the agency responsible for the Free Nutritious Meal programme.
Through Commission IX of the DPR, Cucun explained that the processes of planning, budgeting, and post-auditing within the BGN will be continuously monitored, ensuring that the BGN budget for 2027 undergoes thorough evaluation. “The DPR maintains records, such as those from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), which must be discussed, including important findings and observations,” Cucun said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday.
He also urged the new leadership of the BGN to strictly uphold the mandate given by President Prabowo Subianto to implement and accelerate the targets assigned to the agency. Meanwhile, Cucun expressed respect for the ongoing legal processes involving former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and other former officials who have been named suspects. “We respect all ongoing processes and appreciate the spirit of the President’s government in law enforcement to eradicate corruption,” he added.
Previously, on Wednesday (3/6), the Attorney General’s Office named three former officials of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as suspects in an alleged corruption case concerning the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme for the 2025–2026 period. The three individuals are former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana (DH), former Deputy Head of Organisational Development and Institutional Support Lodewyk Pusung (LP), and former Deputy Head of Nutritional Fulfilment Operations Sony Sonjaya (SS).
