House of Representatives Targets Domestic Workers Protection Bill for Approval on Tuesday, 21 April 2026
Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, stated that the Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT) is targeted for approval during the plenary session on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. The Gerindra Party politician announced this while opening a public hearing on the drafting of the Asset Confiscation Bill.
“Tomorrow in the plenary, alhamdulillah, insyaallah, the PPRT Law that we have long awaited will be approved,” said Habiburokhman at the DPR Complex in Jakarta on 20 April 2026.
Today, the DPR’s Legislation Body (Baleg) completed discussions on 417 Problem Inventory Lists (DIM) in the RUU PPRT. Baleg Chairman Bob Hasan said the total DIM consists of 290 body articles and 127 explanations, with details.
He further detailed that there are 204 fixed DIMs, 6 new substantive DIMs, 10 substantive change DIMs, and 52 editorial DIMs. To accelerate the process, Baleg agreed that all fixed DIMs will be automatically approved in the joint meeting with the government, while the rest will be discussed by the working committee.
Baleg member Daniel Johan also hopes that the RUU PPRT can be approved as a law after 22 years in the national legislative program (Prolegnas). “PKB hopes that tomorrow this bill can be approved as a law during the plenary,” said the National Awakening Party politician in a written statement on Monday.
According to Daniel, PKB has supported the approval of the RUU PPRT to provide a legal umbrella guaranteeing the welfare of domestic workers. In addition, he stated that the central and regional governments will provide vocational training through the approval of the RUU PPRT.
During the commemoration of International Labour Day on 1 May 2025, President Prabowo Subianto also promised workers that this bill would soon be approved as a law. In the 16th plenary session of the IV session period of the 2025-2026 session year, on Thursday, 12 March 2026, the DPR agreed to make the RUU PPRT a legislative initiative proposal.
