The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Saan Mustopa, has set a target for the Labour Protection Bill to be passed no later than 8 October 2026, before the current legislative session concludes.

He stated that the Constitutional Court’s ruling mandates the completion of the Bill by this October, noting that the House is scheduled to enter its recess period on 9 October 2026.

“This means that before the closing of the legislative session, we must pass this to fulfil the mandate of the Constitutional Court ruling,” said Saan following an audience with several labour unions at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He assured that the House of Representatives will follow up on the aspirations presented by various labour unions and relay them to the Working Committee (Panja) currently discussing the Bill.

According to him, the House will continue to seek common ground regarding the issues raised by workers. He added that it is possible the House will work late into the night, and even on holidays, to finalise the Bill.

“In this Labour Protection Bill, there are several parties involved: the workers themselves, the employers, primarily represented by Apindo, and the government—a tripartite structure,” he explained.

Consequently, he stated that the KBPBI remains committed to fighting for the aspirations of the labour force to ensure they are accommodated in the Bill, specifically concerning issues such as contract labour systems, wages, and other matters deemed exploitative of workers.

“We only wish to convey our aspirations or demands which have been a polemic for years among the labour and worker communities,” said Sunarno, who is also the Chairman of the Congress of the Alliance of Indonesian Trade Unions (KASUBI).
