House of Representatives Secures PT Pos Employee Rights, Rp158 Billion Claim Finally Paid
Efforts by the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to oversee the settlement of employee rights at PT Pos Indonesia have finally borne fruit.
Payment of PT Pos Indonesia’s claim of Rp158 billion from the Ministry of Social Affairs was received by the company on Saturday, 29 August 2026, providing certainty over the rights of approximately 59,000 active workers and pensioners.
PT Pos Indonesia President Director Iskandar Kunaefi expressed his appreciation to the DPR RI. “Alhamdulillah, the payment from the Ministry of Social Affairs has been received by PT Pos today,” he said on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
He thanked Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Chair of Commission VI of the DPR RI Anggia Ermarini, and Deputy Chair of Commission VI Andre Rosiade for overseeing the resolution of the matter.
Chairman of the PT Pos Indonesia Workers’ Union Iwan Suryanegara expressed a similar sentiment.
“On behalf of all workers and management of PT Pos Indonesia, we thank Mr Dasco for fighting for workers’ rights so that workers receive their entitlements and their jobs are protected,” he said.
Iwan also thanked the leadership of Commission VI of the DPR RI, the Minister of Finance, and Danantara for assisting in the settlement process.
The matter began when the DPR RI received input from representatives of PT Pos Indonesia and the workers’ union during a dialogue in the DPR RI Leadership Room, Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.
Workers raised concerns about the certainty of employee rights and the company’s future amid financial pressures.
The DPR deemed the matter urgent as it concerned approximately 31,000 active employees and 28,000 pensioners. Commission VI of the DPR RI subsequently pushed for the acceleration of the disbursement of the Rp158 billion claim owed to PT Pos Indonesia by the Ministry of Social Affairs, based on audit findings.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stressed that the funds constituted debt repayment, not a bailout, and therefore the disbursement should not have been protracted. The DPR subsequently oversaw coordination with relevant ministries and agencies until the payment was realised.
The DPR RI, through Commission VI, will continue to exercise its oversight function over the restructuring process of PT Pos Indonesia, the settlement of outstanding obligations, and the protection of workers’ rights.
“Resolving PT Pos’s problems does not stop at the disbursement of this payment. The DPR will continue to ensure that similar issues do not again affect workers’ rights in the future,” said Dasco.
