House of Representatives Schedules Meeting with Non-Parliamentary Parties to Discuss Election Bill this Friday
The House of Representatives (DPR RI) is set to hold a meeting with the leadership of non-parliamentary political parties to discuss the Draft Election Law (RUU Pemilu). The meeting has been rescheduled and will take place this Friday.
Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Dasco, revealed that the audience was originally intended to be held today. However, the DPR decided to reschedule to accommodate more non-parliamentary political parties that had submitted requests for a meeting.
“There was indeed a plan to meet with non-parliamentary parties, accompanied by the leadership of Commission II. However, it was originally scheduled for today,” Dasco told reporters at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/09/2026).
Dasco explained that the DPR wishes to ensure that all aspirations from non-parliamentary parties are accommodated inclusively. Therefore, the timing was adjusted so that a more complete representation of parties could be present.
“However, due to various reasons, we want to involve more parties that requested a meeting today. To ensure a larger number of participants, we have scheduled it for Friday,” said Dasco.
The leadership of the DPR RI, alongside the leadership of Commission II, will listen to and absorb input from non-parliamentary parties regarding the Election Bill.
Previously, a coalition of non-parliamentary parties under the People’s Voice Sovereignty Movement (GKSR) proposed a parliamentary threshold (PT) of 1 per cent. The proposal, contained within a 200-page academic paper for the Election Bill, will be submitted to the DPR.
“Therefore, the GKSR maintains that the parliamentary threshold should be 1 per cent, while still considering combined factions at the national level of the DPR RI and/or a consensus reached in elections conducted before the general election or at the beginning, rather than after,” said the General Chairperson of GKSR, Said Iqbal, in a statement on Tuesday (29/09).
