House of Representatives Reminds PT Adhi Karya Not to Build 'Sekolah Rakyat' Carelessly

SEMARANG — A number of members of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) conducted an inspection of Integrated Sekolah Rakyat (SR) 1 in Rowosari Subdistrict, Tembalang District, Semarang City, Central Java, on Friday (17/7/2026). Following the inspection, Commission V member Novita Wijayanti warned PT Adhi Karya, the contractor, not to be careless in building the SR.

The warning stemmed from a number of findings concerning facilities and infrastructure at SR Rowosari that have yet to meet safety and comfort standards. According to Novita, the infrastructure that has been built could put pupils at risk.

“The infrastructure must be built properly. Earlier, there were staircases that I believe carry a risk of endangering the children. They either need railings or warning signs. It must not be the case that they go unnoticed and children running around fall,” said the Gerindra Party faction member of the DPR RI.

Novita also highlighted the availability of clean water, electricity supply, generators, and surveillance cameras or CCTV. “Please check the water availability thoroughly. Then the electricity, the generator, and please install the CCTV as well, because when managing schoolchildren — especially teenagers — extra monitoring is needed,” she said.

She also asked the contractor to provide various simple facilities needed by female pupils. “Then earlier I went to the toilet; please put a mirror there. There is already a washbasin. These are small things, but because they are girls, they need a bit more attention to detail,” added Novita.
