House of Representatives Passes Indonesia One Data Law
The 9th Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) for the first session of 2026-2027 officially passed the Indonesia One Data (SDI) Bill into law on Tuesday (6/10).
The ratification session was led by the Speaker of the House, Puan Maharani, accompanied by Deputy Speaker Sari Yuliati, and attended by 326 out of 576 members of the House.
“Is the Bill regarding Indonesia One Data approved to be enacted into law?” Puan asked, seeking approval from the meeting participants.
The SDI Bill had previously been approved at the first level within the Working Committee of the House Legislative Body. All eight parliamentary factions agreed to the immediate ratification of the Bill.
The Indonesia One Data or SDI Bill was originally proposed as a DPR initiative. During discussions with the government, a total of 1,338 items were identified in the list of problems (DIM) for the main body of the bill, alongside 829 items for the explanatory notes.
Through the discussion of these issues, the SDI Bill was agreed to consist of 20 chapters and 141 articles, regulating 15 key substantive points.
The Chairman of the SDI Bill Working Committee, Sturman Panjaitan, explained that the SDI Bill regulates matters such as National Basic Data (DDN). According to him, the DDN will be fully managed by the state to serve as a reference for development planning.
Furthermore, the SDI Bill regulates the governance of SDI through an SDI master plan, SDI architecture, SDI management, and the SDI lifecycle. The law also addresses data security and protection through established data security standards.
The data security system will be managed by agencies specialising in cyber security and cryptography, including cryptographic infrastructure and digital certificate management systems.
“The formation of the implementing body will take a maximum of one year, alongside the adjustment of SDI systems and infrastructure based on the regulations of Presidential Regulation Number 39 of 2019 concerning Indonesia One Data,” said the PDIP politician.
