House of Representatives Member Supports Delaying Mineral and Coal Royalties to Protect Investment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cek Endra, a member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), supports the government’s step to delay adjustments to royalties and export duties in the mining sector to maintain a balance between state revenue and the sustainability of investment in minerals and coal (minerba).
According to Cek Endra, the policy pursued by the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia demonstrates prudence in formulating fiscal and energy policies amidst global economic dynamics.
“We see the government striving to find the best formulation so that national interests are maintained, while on the other hand, the investment climate and the sustainability of the national mining industry also remain conducive,” Cek Endra stated in Jakarta on Monday.
Therefore, he noted, fiscal policy in the mining sector needs to be formulated in a measurable manner, considering global commodity prices, investment sustainability, and the industry’s ability to maintain national productivity.
Cek Endra also appreciated the government’s efforts to synchronise national energy and fiscal policies to support the strengthening of energy security and the acceleration of electricity infrastructure development in various regions.
“We, through Commission XII of the DPR RI, in principle support government policies oriented towards strengthening energy security, increasing the added value of natural resources, and optimising state revenue while still considering national investment stability,” he said.
The legislator from the Jambi constituency expressed hope that communication between the government and mining sector business actors continues to be strengthened, ensuring that policies provide certainty for the business world while remaining aligned with national interests and public welfare.
