House of Representatives Inaugurates Adela Kanasya Adies as Substitute Member Replacing Adies Kadir
House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani initially read an excerpt from the Presidential Decree dated 22 April 2026 regarding the inauguration of the interim replacement (PAW) for a DPR member. Putri Adies Kadir, who received the second-highest number of votes in Jawa Timur 1, automatically ascends to replace Adies Kadir.
“Ms Adela Kanasya Adies from the Golkar Party Faction, electoral district of Jawa Timur 1, replaces Mr Adies Kadir,” stated Puan.
“Furthermore, in accordance with Article 9 Paragraph 4 of DPR Regulation Number 1 of 2020 on Standing Orders, which states that an interim substitute member shall take an oath of promise before assuming office,” she added.
The House leadership then guided the oath-taking for the PAW member. Adela pledged to earnestly fulfil the mandate received, prioritising the interests of the people.
“In the name of Allah, I swear that I will fulfil my obligations as a DPR member to the best of my ability and as fairly as possible in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, guided by Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Adela.
Golkar Party General Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia had previously stated that Adies Kadir would be replaced by his daughter, Adela Kanasya Adies. He assured that the replacement follows procedure and is not due to family relations.
“The PAW is carried out by the candidate with the highest votes after the elected DPR member. And coincidentally, the number two after Mr Adies is his daughter. So it’s not because she is Mr Adies Kadir’s child,” said Bahlil at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday (5/2).
Adies was the former Deputy Speaker of the DPR and served as Deputy Chairman of Golkar. Adies has announced his resignation after being appointed as a Constitutional Court judge.
Based on the 2024 legislative election recapitulation results from the official KPU Jatim website, Adies Kadir was a legislative candidate in the Jawa Timur I electoral district from the Golkar Party. In the 2024 elections, Adies received 147,185 votes.
Meanwhile, in second place was Adela Kanasya Adies with 12,792 votes. Then, in third place was Andi Budi Sulistijanto with 12,064 votes.
Adela is known to be the daughter of Adies Kadir. Both Adela and Adies are Golkar Party cadres and ran in the 2024 legislative elections.
