House of Representatives Hajj Oversight Team Highlights Staff Welfare and Pilgrims' Eligibility
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and member of the 2026 Hajj Oversight Team, Sari Yuliati, stressed that service to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims must not neglect staff welfare or the pilgrims’ eligibility for worship. Her comments were made during a visit to Indonesian pilgrims at Hotel Lulua Al Masher No. 423 in Makkah on Sunday, 24 May 2026, where she received concerns about meal variety and attention to on-ground Hajj staff.
She stated, “Today, we received several notes from pilgrims, particularly regarding meal variety. Additionally, they want attention to staff welfare.” She explained that all feedback would be presented in a meeting with the Amirul Hajj and Saudi Ministry of Hajj to find swift solutions ahead of the peak Hajj period.
“After this, we will meet with the Amirul Hajj and the Ministry of Hajj to gather pilgrims’ aspirations, then discuss and find solutions,” she said. Yuliati also stressed that pilgrims’ devotion must not be exploited to compromise service quality, noting the state must ensure pilgrims receive their rightful services.
“We tolerate no exploitation of pilgrims’ devotion in their worship,” she said. She added that pilgrims must receive services supporting their health and comfort to perform Hajj rites properly. “We hope pilgrims can worship in good health to carry out the Hajj rites with focus,” she concluded.
