House of Representatives Commission X Pays Special Attention to KIP Kuliah Quotas at Private Universities
Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - Member of the House of Representatives Commission X, Lita Machfud Arifin, stated that her commission is paying special attention to the quotas for the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) for Higher Education at Private Universities.
She made this statement during Commission X’s specific working visit related to policies on the new student admission system (SPMB) and higher education operational cost standards (SSBOPT) at Banjarmasin State Polytechnic in South Kalimantan on Friday.
Lita revealed that the event was also attended by several public and private universities to directly absorb aspirations, one of which that emerged was regarding the KIP Kuliah quota distributed in South Kalimantan province from the central government.
“From the results she observed in the discussion, the quota for KIP Kuliah at private universities is given more than 50 percent. But we have not yet seen real data related to that,” she explained.
“Public universities can receive quotas of 900 to 1,000, whereas private universities’ quotas are only around 100 to 200,” she elaborated.
However, Lita said, this must be confirmed again with the relevant parties to ensure valid data on the distribution of KIP Kuliah. For now, this has become a serious concern for her side in Commission X to follow up on.
Because, she said, private universities greatly need the KIP Kuliah programme as an attractor for students to continue their education there.
