House of Representatives Commission III Member Supports Police in Eradicating Online Gambling: Uncover Other Networks
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission III, Abdullah, supports the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department’s move to arrest 320 foreign nationals and one Indonesian citizen suspected of involvement in cross-border online gambling operations in West Jakarta. Abdullah hopes that other syndicate networks will be thoroughly dismantled.
“I appreciate the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department’s successful efforts in uncovering and arresting hundreds of foreign nationals suspected of involvement in cross-border online gambling networks. This demonstrates the apparatus’s commitment to safeguarding Indonesia from cybercrime and illegal gambling threats,” Abdullah told reporters on Tuesday (13/5/2026).
This PKB legislator reminded that this revelation must not stop at a single case. According to him, the police must continue to dismantle and arrest all online gambling networks, whether operating on an international or national scale.
“There must be no more online gambling networks, whether international or national, operating in Indonesia. Uncover the other online gambling networks. All online gambling networks must be arrested and processed according to applicable law,” he stressed.
Abdullah also called on the National Police to continue enhancing personnel capabilities, strengthening technology, and improving enforcement strategies in facing the evolving operational methods of online gambling perpetrators. He stated that eradicating online gambling in Indonesia must be a collective priority.
“Online gambling crimes are currently supported by increasingly advanced technology. Therefore, law enforcement apparatus must continue to improve capacity, digital capabilities, and technological mastery to stay one step ahead of the perpetrators,” Abdullah said.
“The state must not lose to digital criminals. Online gambling has destroyed many families, caused social problems, and threatened the future of the younger generation. Therefore, its eradication must be a collective priority,” he added.
Previously, the National Police arrested 321 people in a raid on an online gambling headquarters on Jalan Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta. Of these, 320 perpetrators were foreign nationals and one was an Indonesian citizen.
Director of General Criminal Acts (Dirtipidum) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, stated that this arrest is a form of commitment to eradicating online gambling in Indonesia. He noted that online gambling activities are highly detrimental to society and the national economy.
“We from the Indonesian National Police are committed to eradicating gambling criminal acts. Whether online gambling or conventional gambling, as this is highly detrimental to society and can harm the national economy,” Wira said during a press conference to reporters in Jakarta on Sunday (10/5).
He also warned against allowing Indonesia to become a hub for online gambling. The National Police is committed to eradicating such violations.
“Equally important, this revelation is hoped to prevent Indonesia from becoming a haven for online gambling. This is our commitment,” he stated.
