House of Representatives' Commission III asks the Judicial Commission to monitor the case of the murder of a student from the University of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, has requested the Judicial Commission (KY) to monitor the case of the murder of a student from the University of Mataram (Unram), with the initials NMV, on Nipah Beach, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The request was made after the family of Radiet Ardiansyah, who is the defendant in the case, demanded justice and denied his involvement.
According to him, the KY needs to monitor the case in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Radiet is currently being tried for the alleged murder in case number 12/Pid.B/2026/PN Mtr.
“Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives will summon the Chief of Police of North Lombok and the Head of the Mataram Prosecutor’s Office for case number 12/Pid.B/2026/PN Mtr to provide a clear explanation regarding the case they are handling,” said Habiburokhman at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Thursday.
This is the conclusion of a public hearing (RDPU) conducted by Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the legal representatives and family of Radiet Ardiansyah.
In the meeting, Radiet’s mother, Makkiyati, asked Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives to help provide justice for her son. She believes that her son is not the perpetrator of the murder of the student.
During the initial examination process, she said that her son was not accompanied by a lawyer. In addition, she claimed that she was not allowed to see her son being handcuffed and wearing prisoner clothes.
“My son was not accompanied by any lawyer that night. I asked for help, but no one came to help my son,” said Makkiyati.
Meanwhile, the lawyer representing Radiet’s family, Hotman Paris, considered the case to be unusual. According to him, Radiet was also found injured, not far from the location of the victim, NMV.
However, according to him, Radiet was eventually accused of being the perpetrator of the murder of NMV. In the construction of the case, Radiet was said to be NMV’s male friend.
“The perpetrator, who is accused of the murder, was found unconscious not far from the body. It is unlikely that if he was indeed the perpetrator, he should have fled,” said Hotman.
Previously, on September 20, 2025, the Chief of Police of North Lombok, AKBP Agus Purwanta, named Radiet as a suspect in the murder of the student based on the results of the investigation.
“Based on the results of the case presentation at the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, we named the person concerned (Radiet) as a suspect who allegedly violated Article 338 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code,” he said.
The role of Radiet, who was previously found unconscious near the location where the body of Made Vaniradya was found, was revealed from a series of witness examinations and other evidence.
