House of Representatives Commission III Applauds South Tangerang Police for Foiling Circulation of 46 Million Illegal Pills

Wakil Ketua Komisi III Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) RI Moh. Rano Alfath has expressed his highest appreciation for the South Tangerang Police’s success in thwarting the circulation and smuggling of 46 million illegal hard drugs listed in Category G. He stated that this disclosure represents a significant achievement in efforts to protect the public from the increasingly troubling threat of illegal drug abuse. “I give my highest appreciation to South Tangerang Police Chief AKBP Boy Jumalolo and all his ranks, as well as the Serpong Police, for successfully uncovering and destroying approximately 46 million illegal Category G hard drug pills,” Rano said in a written statement in Tangerang on Wednesday. As a legislator representing the Banten III electoral district, which includes Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, and South Tangerang City, he emphasised that eradicating the circulation of narcotics and illegal drugs in the region is a special concern for him. “This very large amount of evidence shows the seriousness of the authorities in protecting the public from the dangers of illegal drug abuse,” he said. Rano explained that the success of the South Tangerang Police also demonstrates that the Indonesian National Police continue to work professionally and remain focused on carrying out their main duties and functions in maintaining security and enforcing the law. “Amidst various news reports that had been circulating regarding the South Tangerang Police’s Narcotics Unit, the Metro Jaya Regional Police have provided clarification that the Head of the South Tangerang Police Narcotics Unit was not involved nor was he criminally processed in the case,” he stated. He added that the House of Representatives Commission III will continue to support law enforcement officials in eradicating the circulation of narcotics and illegal drugs, while also inviting the public to play an active role in reporting any illegal drug distribution activities in their neighbourhoods. “Synergy between law enforcement officials and the community is key to breaking the chain of illegal drug distribution that threatens the future of the nation’s generation,” he said. The South Tangerang Police, through the Serpong Police, destroyed tens of millions of Category G hard drugs of various types. The drugs were found in a warehouse on Jalan Raya Bogor, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. “We have destroyed 46 million Category G hard drug pills of various brands, worth IDR 230 billion, today,” said Serpong Police Chief Kompol Suhardono. He explained that the destruction of the evidence began with the uncovering of illegal drug distribution within his jurisdiction. Officers then became suspicious of a box truck and conducted surveillance. Upon inspection of the box truck, 78 cardboard boxes containing various types of Category G hard drugs without distribution permits were found. The police then conducted further investigation, which led to the discovery of 838 cardboard boxes containing various types of Category G hard drugs and the identification of one suspect with the initials H, who is currently on the wanted list for acting as the distribution commander or foreman. “For their actions, the suspects are charged under Article 435 and/or Article 436 paragraphs 1 and 2 of Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, in conjunction with Article 20 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, as amended in Appendix I of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments, with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years,” he said.
