Secretary General of the DPR, Indra Iskandar, stated that his office has saved up to Rp1.5 billion after cutting fuel (BBM) allocations for high-ranking officials in the DPR secretariat. Meanwhile, for savings in other areas, Indra said calculations are still ongoing. “For the fuel part, it’s around Rp1.5 billion. For the others, it’s still in process and being evaluated and calculated,” Indra said when contacted on Sunday (29/3). Besides fuel usage, Indra mentioned that savings are also being made in other budget allocations, such as electricity and meeting provisions. Specifically for electricity, he added, the DPR is now using 20% of its electricity from solar panels. “And currently, 20% of the DPR’s electricity usage also comes from solar panel energy,” he said. Indra stated that efficiency in various budget areas will continue to be evaluated, including calculating the figures. He said this step will continue until December 2026. “Because this efficiency commitment will continue until December,” he said. Previously, the Minister for State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said the government is continuously preparing strategies to maintain the health of the state’s fiscal position, including closing potential budget deficits through tightening spending and reviewing programmes deemed low priority. With this strategy, the government hopes to keep the deficit under control while ensuring state budget is used more efficiently and on target.
