House of a housewife in Jembrana destroyed by fire due to electrical short circuit; two motorcycles burned
Misfortune struck Ni Luh Sri Budi, 55, a housewife in Baler Bale Agung neighbourhood, Baler Bale Agung Village, Negara District, Jembrana Regency. Her house was consumed by fire in the early hours of Thursday, 5 March 2026. The fire is believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. As a result, Sri incurred losses estimated at Rp 100 million. ‘The incident began around 04:00 WITA. A resident on the way to the market saw flames already engulfing Sri Budi’s house,’ said I Kadek Rita Budhi Atmaja, Head of Firefighting and Rescue Division, Jembrana Regency’s Satpol PP, when contacted by detikBali on Thursday. ‘Witnesses were shocked and cried out for help, waking the homeowner and nearby residents,’ she added. Residents attempted to extinguish the fire with improvised tools. It was noted that the house was unoccupied when the flames began. The owner then reported the incident to the BPBD office, which forwarded it to the Jembrana Fire Station. ‘The on-call Fire Brigade Unit I immediately went to the location, with an estimated travel time of about three minutes. Four fire engines were deployed to subdue the blaze,’ Rita said. The firefighting operation used around 13,000 litres of water. Firefighters laboured for about an hour until the fire was completely extinguished and cooling procedures carried out. The building, measuring 5 x 8 metres and comprising two bedrooms and a living room, was left in ruins. ‘In addition to the structure, a number of the victim’s valuable items could not be saved, including electronic devices, a wardrobe and furniture, two sewing machines, and two motorcycles (Yamaha Stylo and Yamaha FreeGo), with losses estimated at more than Rp 100 million,’ Rita added.
