House Member Pushes for Tourism Development in Southwest Aceh
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - T Zulkarnaini Ampon Bang, a member of Commission VII of the DPR RI from Aceh, has pledged to develop the tourism potential of Aceh’s south-western region, particularly Southwest Aceh Regency (Abdya).
“Zulkarnaini Ampon Bang has declared his commitment to developing Abdya’s tourism potential,” said Husnul Jamil, expert staff to Zulkarnaini Ampon Bang, in Abdya on Tuesday.
Husnul delivered the statement during a Wonderful Indonesia branding promotion event held in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia at the hall of the STKIP Muhammadiyah Abdya campus.
He said that, as expert staff to Commission VII of the DPR RI, he would champion and assist the development of tourism potential in Abdya to help improve the local economy.
“In my position as expert staff at Commission VII of the DPR RI, I will champion and help develop this tourism potential for the sake of advancing the people’s economy,” he said.
According to him, the development of regional tourism cannot be separated from the commitment and seriousness of the regency government in building and managing tourist attractions.
He therefore invited the regional government, through the relevant agencies, and all elements of society to collaborate and unite their vision in advancing the tourism sector.
“Set aside all differences, views, and backgrounds. Let us all speak of Abdya’s interests together, because togetherness is one of the keys to successful regional development,” he said.
One of Abdya’s tourist destinations considered to have development potential is the marine tourism site of Pulau Gosong.
The area boasts rich marine life, including a giant clam said to be one of the largest in Indonesia, as well as Napoleon wrasse and various other marine species.
