The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has named 287 foreign nationals as suspects in an online gambling hub case in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta. Member of House Commission III from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction, Endang Agustina, appreciated the police disclosure and demanded the eradication of the online gambling operation chain. “I thank the National Police, especially Bareskrim, for successfully uncovering this online gambling case which has been very troubling and hated by the public,” Endang told reporters on Saturday (27/6/2026). The head of the PAN faction in House Commission III highlighted that the majority of suspects are foreign nationals. She warned that the negative impacts of online gambling are deeply felt in society. “And what is more interesting is that the entire ‘crew’ or operators are mostly foreign nationals, up to hundreds of people, while the Indonesians themselves are only four people if I am not mistaken,” said Endang. “Online gambling is currently very damaging to the fabric of society, making people delusional, making people lazy, making people fall into debt, and more sadly, it can make people commit crimes,” she added. Endang supports the National Police in thoroughly investigating the case. She also asked the police to process any parties involved so they receive appropriate punishment. “And investigators must move quickly to sever the chain of this online gambling so it no longer operates. Once again, thank you to the National Police, especially Bareskrim,” she said. It is known that the foreign national suspects come from various countries. Deputy Chief of Bareskrim, Inspector General Nunung Syaifudin, initially stated that 321 foreign nationals were detained from the Hayam Wuruk Plaza Tower building last May. However, not all of the detained foreign nationals were named suspects. “A total of 287 foreign nationals from various countries have been named as suspects,” Nunung said during a press conference at the Bareskrim Building, South Jakarta, on Friday (26/6). The suspects consist of 76 Chinese nationals, three Lao nationals, two Malaysian nationals, 15 Myanmar nationals, six Thai nationals, and 185 Vietnamese nationals. In addition, the Bareskrim General Crimes Directorate team also detained four Indonesian citizens suspected of facilitating and being involved in the operations of the online gambling network. “A further 35 foreign nationals are still under investigation regarding their involvement,” he said. Bareskrim also seized electronic evidence including 594 mobile phone units, 382 laptops, 179 monitors and computers, 11 Mac Mini units, as well as routers and other digital devices. The suspects had various roles, ranging from customer service to administration.
