House Legislation Body Approves Harmonisation of Labour Protection Bill
The Legislation Body (Baleg) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has approved the results of the harmonisation of the Bill on Labour Protection. The factions approved the harmonisation of the bill.
The approval was taken during a plenary meeting of the Legislation Body at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/8/2026). Initially, the Chair of the Working Committee, Sturman Panjaitan, delivered his report regarding the harmonisation of the Labour Protection Bill.
“Based on the technical aspects, formulation, and substance of the bill, the Working Committee is of the opinion that the Bill on Labour Protection has been completed at the Working Committee level and therefore the Working Committee submits the decision to the plenary of the Legislation Body,” said Sturman.
Sturman stated that the harmonisation had been discussed intensively. One of the points was to refine the technical drafting of the Labour Protection Bill.
“Refining the technical drafting of the Labour Protection Bill in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 12 of 2011 on the Formation of Legislation as last amended by Law Number 13 of 2022 on the second amendment to Law Number 12 of 2011 on the Formation of Legislation,” he said.
The Chair of the Legislation Body, Bob Hasan, then asked each faction to present its views. After the factions’ views, Bob requested the approval of the meeting participants.
“Next, we request the approval of the meeting whether the results of the harmonisation, consolidation, and finalisation of the conception of the Bill on Labour Protection can be processed further in accordance with the legislation?” asked Bob.
“Agreed,” answered the meeting participants.
