Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sari Yuliati, has refuted claims that House Commission III is refusing to deliberate the Asset Forfeiture Bill. She confirmed that the bill is currently in progress and will be included in the 2026 Priority National Legislation Programme (Prolegnas).

“We need to convey that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is included in the 2026 Priority Prolegnas,” Sari stated during a Plenary Session at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.

Sari added that House Commission III is currently gathering input from legal practitioners, experts, and students to draft the Asset Forfeiture Law. “Currently, House Commission III is in the drafting stage by collecting public input as part of meaningful public participation from various groups, including the community, academics, practitioners, students, experts, institutions, and other relevant parties,” she said.

During the same session, Deputy Speaker Saan Mustopa stressed that the issue of House Commission III refusing to discuss the Asset Forfeiture Bill is untrue. He stated that the House continues to deliberate the bill thoroughly. “We need to convey that the issue circulating in the public is not true, that the House is refusing to discuss the Asset Forfeiture Bill. To this day, the House continues to deliberate the Asset Forfeiture Bill, particularly in Commission III,” Saan said.

Saan explained that House Commission III is making efforts to gather input from various community groups through Public Hearing Meetings (RDPU). He assured that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is still being discussed and will be completed by House Commission III. “By conducting various RDPUs and public hearings carried out by House Commission III regarding input from various parties, especially stakeholders related to the bill. So, once again, this Asset Forfeiture Bill is in the deliberation process at the House through House Commission III,” he concluded.

Previously, the Chairman of House Commission III, Habiburokhman, dismissed accusations that the commission was refusing to discuss the Asset Forfeiture Bill. He stated that House Commission III is accelerating the deliberation of the bill to this day.
