Jakarta (ANTARA) - The leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Commission VI received an audience from employees of PT Pos Indonesia to push for certainty that salaries for 31,000 employees and 28,000 pensioners can be disbursed soon after experiencing delays in recent times.

Chair of Commission VI of the DPR RI, Anggia Erma Rini, said that Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad had communicated with Danantara and the Ministry of Finance to resolve the problem of unpaid salaries.

According to her, the issue concerns the livelihoods of many people.

“The financial condition is not there, and they also need certainty that salaries will be paid by 1 September at the latest,” Anggia said after the audience with PT Pos employee representatives at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

She said the funds could be used to pay the salaries of tens of thousands of employees.

“In addition, there are also invoices at Bulog and invoices at Peruri,” she said.

She also noted that today marks the 281st anniversary of PT Pos Indonesia, meaning the company is already very old.

In fact, she assessed that PT Pos has the potential to become a business of the future, particularly in logistics delivery services. Therefore, she asked the government and Danantara to untangle the problems of the company, which is currently in decline.

“Earlier, Mr Dasco directly telephoned the Ministry of Finance because the request letter (invoice) was actually dated 12 August,” she said.
