Jakarta (ANTARA) - The leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a meeting with government officials to expedite the completion of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the governance of online transport, specifically online motorcycle taxis (ojol).

DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said the meeting was led by Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Deputy Speaker Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal. The DPR is continuing to process the points required for the implementation of the regulation.

“Regarding the ojol Perpres, what needs to be done, how, and so forth,” Puan said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to her, the DPR will issue a decision on the drafting of the regulation as soon as the best agreement is reached.

“Of course, it can be processed immediately by the government. Right now, a meeting is underway,” she said.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria.

Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the discussion of the draft presidential regulation on online motorcycle taxis requires one more meeting for finalisation with the government.

Dasco said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday that the meeting is scheduled to take place at the DPR on Tuesday (18/8), inviting the relevant ministries.

“There is still one more finalisation on how the government calculates transport that carries people and goods. It is almost done. So, on 18 August there will be one more meeting at the DPR. We are inviting the relevant ministries to present the final version,” he said.

According to Dasco, the meeting is necessary to ensure the regulation’s formulation does not create differing interpretations in its application.
