Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, and DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad inspected preparations for the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The parliamentary leaders checked the preparations underway at the Nusantara Building, the venue for the national agenda scheduled for Friday, 14 August.

During a press conference, Puan Maharani stated that preparations were nearly complete. “Tomorrow is the final preparation, and on Friday, God willing, everything will be ready to carry out the matters we have been preparing for a long time together with the MPR and DPD,” she said.

Puan explained that the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD will be held from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM Western Indonesia Time. Following a break, the agenda will continue with a DPR Plenary Session at 2:30 PM.

During the plenary session, the President will deliver the government’s statement on the Bill on the State Budget for the 2027 Fiscal Year. “We hope that the delivery of the 2027 State Budget Bill will allow us to hear how the government presents its priority programmes, which will certainly benefit the nation and the state,” Puan said.

She also noted that, unlike previous years, this year’s annual session and joint session are being held on 14 August. She explained that the scheduling was adjusted to ensure the state events fall on a working day. “In accordance with the rules, the annual session and the delivery of the State Budget Bill are customarily not held on Saturdays or Sundays. So, it is not being moved; it is being held on a working day in line with the regulations,” she stated.

Puan expressed her hope that the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD would proceed smoothly. “This is highly anticipated,” she remarked.
