A residential house in Cilandak, South Jakarta, was struck by a fire. The blaze was discovered after residents were startled by the sound of multiple explosions.

“At 11:40 WIB, residents in the rear house heard three explosions, followed by the appearance of black smoke,” said an officer from the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) Command Centre on Saturday (20/06/2026).

Local residents reported the fire to firefighters via telephone and visited the fire station in person at 11:47 WIB. The burning house is located on Jalan Bona Gang Haji Sakim, Pondok Labu, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

“The object on fire was a residential house,” the officer stated.

Three fire engines from the Jagakarsa Sector were initially deployed for the response. The firefighting operation commenced at 11:57 WIB.

“The house was confirmed to be empty as the owner was away on holiday,” they added.

A total of 15 fire engines and 83 personnel were deployed to the scene. The firefighting operation was declared complete at 12:36 WIB.

“The suspected cause of the fire is an electrical phenomenon,” the officer said.

Images of the scene show the interior of the house heavily charred. There were no casualties reported as a result of the fire.
