House in North Jakarta Destroyed by Flying Oxygen Cylinder, Owner Traumatised
A resident’s house in Cilincing, North Jakarta, was severely damaged after being struck by a large oxygen cylinder that was thrown into the air. The house suffered extensive damage to its roof and interior. Cilincing Police Chief AKP Bobi Dubasri stated on Wednesday (10/6/2026) that there were no casualties or injuries, but the victim’s house and grocery stall sustained heavy damage. Material losses have not yet been estimated. The incident occurred around 9.20 a.m. Western Indonesia Time at Jalan Baru Gang 2 Dalam No 25, Cilincing Urban Village, North Jakarta. The gas cylinder was propelled approximately 100 metres whilst being filled at PT Multi Senada Dan Dewa, located at Jalan Cilincing Raya No 29. Photos show the victim’s roof had a large hole measuring around 4 to 6 square metres. The homeowner is traumatised by the terrifying incident. The police chief added that the victim’s wife was traumatised by the event. Residents initially did not know the origin of the large oxygen cylinder that flew and struck the house. A loud explosion was heard at the time of the incident. He explained that the cylinder being filled suddenly shot upwards into the air accompanied by a sound like a car tyre exploding, causing the asbestos roof of the oxygen filling facility to be damaged or punctured. Upon receiving information about the incident, Cilincing Police duty personnel led by Criminal Investigation Unit Head Ipda Adi Putra Tanjung, accompanied by Pawas Aiptu Bambang Prayitno, promptly visited the location to conduct checks and secure the crime scene. Officers subsequently carried out a series of police actions, including securing the location, installing a police line, taking statements from witnesses, documenting the damage, and preparing a report for further investigation. Cilincing Police urged all companies involved in the filling and storage of high-pressure gas to consistently implement strict workplace safety standards to prevent similar incidents that could endanger workers and the surrounding community.
