Lasarus Dalus’s house in Tana Wara village, Satar Nawang sub-district, Congkar district, East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), caught fire on Monday (1 June 2026) afternoon. The blaze destroyed the entire building and its contents, including Rp10 million in cash.

‘Estimated total losses amount to hundreds of millions of rupiah,’ said Inspector Hironimus Emilyanus, chief of Sambi Rampas Police Station.

The damaged property included an 8x13-metre house, a 3x5-metre kitchen, Rp10 million in cash, three 100kg sacks of paddy, approximately 280kg of rice, 50kg of coffee beans, a wardrobe, bed, and household furniture.

Hironimus stated there were no casualties as the homeowner was in the garden when the fire occurred. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

‘Local residents attempted to extinguish the flames with makeshift equipment, but due to the intensity of the fire and strong winds, it was difficult to control until the entire structure and contents were consumed,’ he added.

Bhabinkamtibmas officers have coordinated with the Satar Nawang Village Government to promptly submit an official disaster report to the East Manggarai Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to ensure the victim receives immediate assistance.
