House Forms Special Committee to Oversee Three Corruption Cases Involving Febrie Adriansyah
Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) has formed a working committee to oversee three corruption cases that have ensnared former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. This was agreed at a special meeting held by DPR Commission III on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
Chairman of DPR Commission III Habiburokhman said the working committee would monitor the ongoing handling of corruption cases. “This case can be described as one of the mega-corruption cases given the sheer volume of evidence that has been secured,” he said during the meeting.
At the special meeting, all political party factions agreed to the formation of the working committee. All factions also agreed that Habiburokhman would serve as its chairman.
Nasyirul Falah Amru, a Commission III member from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) faction, described the corruption case involving officials at the Attorney General’s Office as a shameful scandal. He urged law enforcers to impose heavy punishment on the suspects in the three corruption cases.
“I ask that the perpetrators, the suspects, be tried as severely as possible — if possible, sentenced to death,” Falah said at the special meeting.
Similarly, Endang Agustina, a Commission III member from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction, urged law enforcers to hand down heavy sentences to the suspects. She said the bribery case involving Attorney General’s Office officials had made life harder for ordinary people.
“People are already struggling to get by. Officials who should be fighting corruption are instead committing corruption. It is deeply distressing and they must be punished severely,” said Endang.
In his closing remarks, Habiburokhman stated that the working committee was committed to safeguarding the investigation of these criminal acts by law enforcers. He urged that Febrie Adriansyah’s resignation as Jampidsus should not halt the ongoing law enforcement efforts.
Previously, the police formally handed over three cases dragging former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah to the Attorney General’s Office. The three graft cases concern corruption at PT Asabri, PT Krakatau Steel, and a coal supply corruption case that caused power blackouts in Sumatra, previously investigated by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps together with the Metro Jaya Regional Police.
In this case, the police have named two suspects: Febrie Adriansyah and private individual Don Ritto. Both the evidence and the suspects will soon be transferred to the prosecution service. Don Ritto has been detained at the Metro Jaya Regional Police detention facility, whilst Febrie has not yet been detained.
“He has been named a suspect by the coordination board, but no detention has been carried out yet,” said Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Rudi Margano at the Attorney General’s Office building on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
