House Forms Special Committee to Oversee Three Corruption Cases Involving Febrie Adriansyah

The House of Representatives’ Commission III has formed a special committee to oversee three corruption cases involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. The decision was reached during a special meeting held by the commission on Saturday, 11 July 2026. Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stated the oversight committee would monitor the ongoing handling of the criminal cases, noting that the matter could be classified as a mega corruption case given the substantial amount of evidence already secured. All political party factions agreed to the formation of the committee and appointed Habiburokhman as its chairman. Commission III member Nasyirul Falah Amru from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle described the case involving a senior official at the Attorney General’s Office as a disgraceful scandal. He urged law enforcement to impose the maximum possible penalty on the suspects, including the death sentence. Fellow commission member Endang Agustina from the National Mandate Party echoed this sentiment, stating that the corruption had exacerbated public hardship and that officials tasked with eradicating corruption should face severe punishment. In his concluding remarks, Habiburokhman affirmed the committee’s commitment to overseeing the legal process and stressed that Febrie Adriansyah’s resignation as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes should not halt the ongoing investigation. Police previously handed over three cases implicating Febrie Adriansyah to the Attorney General’s Office. The cases involve alleged corruption at PT Asabri, PT Krakatau Steel, and a coal supply scandal that caused power outages in Sumatra, which was initially investigated by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Police have named two suspects: Febrie Adriansyah and private sector actor Don Ritto. While Don Ritto has been detained at the Metro Jaya Police detention centre, Febrie Adriansyah has not yet been detained. Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Rudi Margono confirmed the suspect status but noted that detention had not yet been carried out.
