House Fire in Koja Caused by Electrical Fault, Losses Estimated at Rp 566 Million

A house fire broke out in the Koja district of North Jakarta, reportedly triggered by an electrical fault. “The object on fire was a residential house,” said Gatot Sulaiman, Head of the Operations Section for the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), on Thursday (23/7/2026). The fire was reported by a resident via the Jakarta Siaga 112 call centre at 1.03 pm Western Indonesian Time. The affected house is located on Jalan Cemara Angin, Rawa Badak Utara Urban Village, Koja District, North Jakarta. Firefighting operations commenced at 1.12 pm. The suspected cause of the fire was an electrical phenomenon, specifically a short circuit. A total of 11 fire engines and 55 personnel were deployed to the scene. The fire originated at the rear of the house. “The occupant saw a fire at the back of the house and tried to extinguish it, but the flames spread rapidly. The homeowner then contacted the fire brigade for assistance,” he stated. Firefighters completed the extinguishing operation at approximately 1.49 pm. The total area affected by the fire was around 168 square metres. There were no injuries or fatalities reported. One family, consisting of seven people, has been affected by the incident. The estimated financial loss from the fire exceeds Rp 500 million. “The estimated loss is around Rp 566 million,” he said.
