House fire in Bogor during Idul Adha ketupat cooking leaves two injured

The fire occurred at a house on Ahmad Yani Street, Tanah Sareal, Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. Witness Aji, 24, said he was asleep and woke up when the fire had already grown. He explained that the fire was suspected to have started from a gas regulator leak. Aji, the homeowner’s nephew, added that the homeowner was cooking ketupat for Idul Adha the following day, Wednesday, 27 May 2026. ‘Cooking, cooking ketupat (the homeowner). For tomorrow, yes, for tomorrow,’ Aji said when interviewed on Ahmad Yani Street, Bogor, on Tuesday. He stated that the fire broke out in the kitchen, destroying several items including electronics. ‘The stove, TV, bicycle, sofa, and tables,’ he said. ‘Only two people were injured due to glass shards, as the TV had shattered and broken glass was involved,’ Aji added. The fire has since been extinguished by Bogor City Fire Department (Damkar) along with residents of RW 04, Tanah Sareal Village.
