House Ethics Council Chief Shocked by Name's Link to Free Nutritious Meal Corruption Case

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Ethics Council (MKD), Nazaruddin Dek Gam, has denied any involvement in the alleged corruption case concerning the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

This denial follows the circulation of a list of names linked to the suspect in the MBG corruption case, Sony Sanjaya. In the list, which has spread across social media and various digital platforms, Nazaruddin Dek Gam’s name was included.

The politician, who is also a member of Commission III of the DPR, claimed that the information linking him to the case is untrue and lacks any clear basis.

“It is not true; why would I involve myself in the MBG kitchen?” said Dek Gam when asked for comment on Thursday (11/6).

The National Mandate Party (PAN) politician admitted that he initially did not want to respond to the circulating issue. However, he felt compelled to act as the information continued to spread and began creating false perceptions among the public.

“I initially did not want to respond to this matter. But because I see that the information is no longer controlled, I need to provide a clarification,” he said.

Dek Gam emphasised that he has no involvement whatsoever in the management or implementation of the MBG Programme, which falls under the authority of the BGN. He expressed shock that his name suddenly appeared in the circulating list.

“I was also shocked as to how my name could suddenly appear,” he added.

He noted that the public needs to be more cautious when receiving and spreading unverified information, particularly that which circulates on social media.

He requested that the public leave the legal process to the law enforcement agencies and support the transparent investigation of the case.

“Leave it to the Attorney General’s Office; let the investigators do their work. And let us monitor this case together,” he said.
