House Deputy Speaker Welcomes Non-Civil Servant Teacher Allowance Hike, Reminds Government on Infrastructure
The government has raised allowances for both civil servant (ASN) and non-ASN teachers. The policy was welcomed by Deputy Speaker of Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Lalu Hadrian Irfani. “We support the increase in allowances for non-ASN and ASN teachers. This policy is a positive step in efforts to improve the welfare of teachers,” Lalu told reporters on Saturday.
However, he reminded the government not to overlook the development of educational facilities and infrastructure. “We remind the government that besides improving facilities and infrastructure, the welfare of teachers must not be ignored. Improving the quality of students and teachers is also crucial,” he stated.
Lalu explained that the indicative budget ceiling for 2027 allocates more funds for the provision of facilities and infrastructure. He pointed out that a programme for improving teacher quality is not yet included in the 2027 indicative budget ceiling. “We still have homework to do. The programme for improving teacher quality is not yet listed in the 2027 indicative budget ceiling,” he added.
Lalu revealed that Commission X of the DPR will soon hold a meeting with the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education to discuss the 2027 indicative budget ceiling.
