House Deputy Speaker Urges Attorney General to Verify 41 Names in Free Nutritious Meal Corruption Case
Former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sony Sonjaya, while being examined as a suspect in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) governance case, revealed that 41 names were involved in the corruption. Deputy Chairman of House Commission IX, Charles Honoris, stated that this information must be thoroughly investigated and verified by prosecutors.
"We respect the ongoing legal process at the Attorney General’s Office and believe that law enforcement officials will work professionally and independently, and will be able to shed full light on this case," Charles told reporters on Sunday (21/6/2026).
Charles urged that the information not be taken at face value before investigators conduct a thorough examination. He said that if proven, all involved parties must be processed according to the applicable law.
"The information regarding the 41 names mentioned by Mr Sony Sonjaya must certainly be investigated and verified comprehensively by prosecutors," he said. "If sufficient evidence is indeed found, then whoever is involved must be held accountable in accordance with the law."
Charles also reminded Sony Sonjaya not to carelessly name other parties without clear evidence, as this could disrupt the focus of the case handling.
"On the other hand, I also hope that Mr Sony does not simply throw out names or make statements that obscure the substance of the case currently ensnaring him," he said. "Every piece of information conveyed must be accountable and supported by valid evidence so that it truly aids law enforcement, rather than becoming a distraction from the case under investigation."
The PDIP politician stated that the most important thing at present is the complete uncovering of all parties involved in the alleged irregularities in the MBG programme’s governance. He said both the main perpetrators and other parties must be fully exposed.
"A programme concerning the nutritional rights of Indonesian children must not be tainted by corrupt practices and abuse of authority," he said.
Previously, Sony’s legal counsel, Krisna Murti, conveyed that during the day’s examination, Sony was again asked by investigators to detail 26 names of parties who proposed locations for the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) or MBG kitchens. Krisna mentioned that the number of 26 names had grown to 41 names.
"So, from the 26 names we previously mentioned, when one person’s chat was opened, the table was filled with about, the total was 41 names. So the total has now increased to 41 names," Krisna told reporters at the Jampidsus building of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Thursday (18/6).
He explained that the increase was related to parties requesting a share of SPPG points affiliated with the previously mentioned names. From this, the list grew to 41 names suspected of being involved.
"So one person had a table, ‘Sir, this belongs to this person, this belongs to this person, this one belongs to this Regent’, like that. ‘This one belongs to this person, this one belongs to this person’. So the total number of names from yesterday’s 26 plus the ones just mentioned, then there were an additional three names mentioned by Mr Soni, so the total today is 41 names," he continued.
