House Deputy Speaker Confident New Jampidsus Kuntadi Can Handle Major Cases
Wakil Ketua Komisi III DPR RI Fraksi PDIP, Dede Indra Permana Soediro, has responded to the appointment of Kuntadi as the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), replacing Febrie Adriansyah who is implicated in a corruption case. Dede is confident Kuntadi can uncover major cases.
“Congratulations and success to Mr Kuntadi on his new mandate as Jampidsus. In carrying out his previous duties, he has demonstrated his capacity and ability to handle and resolve various major issues,” Dede told reporters on Thursday (23/7/2026).
Dede expressed hope that Kuntadi’s achievements would be maintained and enhanced. He noted that the Jampidsus holds a strategic position in efforts to eradicate corruption and handle major cases of public concern.
“What is already good must certainly be maintained and continuously improved. If there are still matters that need rectifying, they must be addressed and straightened out immediately in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations,” he said.
He also stressed that every law enforcement process must be carried out professionally, transparently, objectively, and based on the law. This is crucial to maintaining public trust in the Attorney General’s Office.
Dede hopes Kuntadi can strengthen internal solidarity, safeguard the institution’s independence, and ensure all cases are handled fairly without discrimination.
“This appointment is an opportunity for Mr Kuntadi to prove that he is the right person to serve as Jampidsus. We hope this mandate can be carried out with full responsibility, integrity, and courage in upholding the law,” Dede stated.
Commission III of the House of Representatives, he continued, will maintain its oversight function and provide support for every law enforcement measure. He hopes Kuntadi can carry out the mandate well.
“Once again, congratulations and success to Mr Kuntadi. May he carry out this mandate well and make Jampidsus and the Attorney General’s Office more professional, with integrity, and trusted by the public,” he concluded.
President Prabowo had previously signed a Presidential Decree regarding the Jampidsus position to replace Febrie Adriansyah, who has been named a suspect. Prabowo appointed Kuntadi as the new Jampidsus at the Attorney General’s Office.
“Regarding the presidential decree, in accordance with the proposal from the Attorney General concerning officials within the Attorney General’s Office, we can inform you that yesterday the President signed the decree based on the assessment of the Final Assessment Team, referring to the proposal letter from the Attorney General,” said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Palace complex.
Pras stated that the administration would forward the excerpt of the appointment decree to the relevant institution, namely the Attorney General’s Office, on Wednesday (22/7).
