Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal has expressed appreciation for the steps taken by the National Police (Polri) and the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) in handling alleged criminal acts of corruption, including the controversy surrounding searches at several locations. According to Cucun, every law enforcement agency has its own mechanism for carrying out the law enforcement process. “Whatever it is, we appreciate it, as they have their own mechanisms for taking law enforcement steps,” Cucun said at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday. However, he admitted that he had not yet received further information regarding the legal process. “Regarding searches at anyone’s place, whatever it is, I haven’t had an update,” he said. Previously, a joint team from the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police conducted searches at several locations related to investigations into alleged corruption in coal procurement, as well as alleged corruption at PT Asabri and PT Krakatau Steel. During the series of searches, investigators seized cash, foreign currency, gold bars, and various documents suspected to be related to the cases. In total, investigators conducted searches at 12 different locations in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.
