House Continues to Gather Public Input on Asset Forfeiture Bill: Process Underway

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has stated that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is currently under process in the DPR. Commission III is presently absorbing public input regarding the bill’s deliberation. “It is not being reviewed. The Asset Forfeiture Bill is currently under process in the DPR,” Dasco said at the parliament building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026). Dasco explained that Commission III is still gathering public participation in the discussion of the Asset Forfeiture Bill, noting that many community groups wish to provide their input. “Naturally, the Indonesian House of Representatives, and specifically the technical commission, Commission III, which is currently discussing it, is at this time requesting a great deal of public participation,” he stated. “There is considerable interest from community groups, organisations, professions, and individuals who want to give their input. So, yesterday, Commission III, even during the recess period, continued to discuss public participation regarding the Asset Forfeiture Bill,” he continued. Dasco added that the DPR leadership will request a report from Commission III on the progress of the bill’s deliberation. Following this, the DPR will evaluate the discussion procedures and other technical matters. “Now, during this recess period, we will request a report from Commission III on how far it has progressed, and then we will evaluate the discussion procedures and other technical matters that we will discuss for the Asset Forfeiture Law which has been in process all this time,” he said. Previously, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that President Prabowo Subianto had given a directive for the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill to be carried out immediately. Supratman expressed confidence that the DPR would soon adopt the bill as a DPR initiative proposal. “The Asset Forfeiture Bill, as you can see, Commission III has just started its sitting period today. It will be opened later by the Deputy Speaker. Commission III is currently conducting public testing, hearing input from all stakeholders, and we are waiting,” Supratman said after attending the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the DPR and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026). “For the President, the instruction to the Minister of Law is clear: it is to be expedited,” he added.
