This working visit also serves to strengthen cross-sectoral synergy in supporting improvements to correctional services. Jayapura (ANTARA) - Member of the House of Representatives Commission XIII, Tonny Tesar, is pushing for enhanced facilities, including bore wells, during a visit to the Class III Women’s Penitentiary (LPP) Jayapura, located in Keerom Regency, Papua. “This working visit also serves to strengthen cross-sectoral synergy in supporting improvements to correctional services,” Tonny said in a press release received in Jayapura on Tuesday. On this occasion, he also extended greetings for the 62nd Correctional Service Day to all correctional staff. He hopes that the penitentiary (lapas) and Correctional Community Service Agency (bapas) staff in Papua will become increasingly professional and integrity-driven, while always prioritising humanitarian values and justice in carrying out their duties. “We also hope that the inmates remain enthusiastic in undergoing their rehabilitation period and continue to draw closer to God,” he stated. The Acting Head of the Papua Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas), Bambang Hendra Setyawan, expressed appreciation for the support from the House of Representatives and various parties that have paid attention to basic needs in the correctional environment. “Fulfilling the need for clean water is a fundamental matter in supporting penitentiary operations and services to inmates,” he said. He emphasised that improving the quality of rehabilitation is a priority so that inmates have productive skills when returning to society.
