House Commission XIII Demands Compensation for Female Pesantren Students Victims of Rape in Pati
Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission XIII, Sugiat Santoso, has condemned the alleged rape case by the pesantren founder with initials AS (52) against dozens of female students in Pati, Central Java. Sugiat has requested that Commission XIII’s working partners, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), facilitate restitution up to compensation for the victims.
“Based on the mandate of the Witness and Victim Protection Law (PSDK), LPSK must facilitate restitution and compensation for victims as well as guarantee long-term social rehabilitation,” Sugiat told reporters on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
This Gerindra Party legislator strongly condemned the sexual crime committed by the pesantren leader in Pati. He asked LPSK, the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan), and the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) to reach out to the victims.
“We condemn this sexual crime. The state must be actively present. LPSK, Komnas HAM, Komnas Perempuan, and KPAI should immediately conduct investigations, most importantly reaching out to the victims as soon as possible,” he said.
Sugiat urged LPSK to coordinate with law enforcement authorities to assess the extent of the impact on the victims. He reminded that the victims are currently in a vulnerable condition.
“Without active involvement from state institutions, the victims will continue to be in a vulnerable position. LPSK must immediately coordinate with law enforcement authorities; this must be continuously done so that the judicial process truly sides with the victims,” he stated.
It is known that LPSK has deployed a team to provide protection to the victims and their families regarding the rape case of female pesantren students by the pesantren founder in Pati. LPSK stated that it is ready to protect the victims.
“LPSK is taking the initiative in this case. We are just about to meet the victims and then coordinate with the handling law enforcement authorities today. Nevertheless, LPSK is ready to provide protection to the victims,” said Deputy Chairman of LPSK, Susilaningtias, when contacted on Wednesday (6/5).
She mentioned that the form of protection to be provided by LPSK will be adjusted to the victims’ conditions. LPSK is ready to provide trauma recovery up to legal accompaniment for the affected victims.
“For example, if they are indeed experiencing traumatic conditions, we can help provide psychological recovery assistance. Similarly for legal accompaniment, yes. We are also ready to provide legal accompaniment,” said Susi.
