Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bambang Haryadi, Deputy Chairman of Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), expressed regret that PT Jababeka Tbk sent only a representative of its subsidiary to a hearing (RDP) and public hearing (RDPU) held by the Environment Working Committee at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday.

Bambang therefore took firm action by ejecting Jababeka’s representatives from the meeting.

The meeting was held to follow up on a complaint filed by PT Mastertama Adhi Propertindo (MAP) concerning an industrial waste pipe problem caused by PT Jababeka Tbk.

Commission XII of the DPR RI is the commission overseeing the energy and mineral resources (ESDM) sector, the environment, and investment.

It was understood that Jababeka once again failed to bring its chief executive, Setyono Djuandi Darmono, and instead sent only Didik Purbadi, President Director of Jababeka Infrastruktur, a subsidiary.

Bambang revealed that this was the second time Jababeka’s management had skipped an official summons from the DPR, leaving the matter to be handled by officials from its subsidiary.

Beyond the absence of the top leadership, Bambang also highlighted irregularities concerning findings of manipulated environmental laboratory data in the case currently being handled by the Commission XII Working Committee together with the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH).

He considered the alteration of laboratory results to be a violation and an insult to Indonesia’s law enforcement system.

“Imagine, laboratory results can be changed. Even the Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement, Rizal Irawan, was baffled. It’s a gamble for the laboratory,” said Bambang.

Meanwhile, Jababeka Infrastruktur responded to the ejection carried out by the leadership of Commission XII of the DPR.

Jababeka said it would be cooperative with any future summons issued by Commission XII. “Yes, we will wait for the next invitation,” said Didik.

Commission XII ultimately continued the RDP with the President Director of PT Mastertama Adhi Propertindo and the Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement, Rizal Irawan, while the hearing proceeded without Jababeka’s participation.
