House Commission XII: Pertamina Reports Sufficient Fuel Stocks Nationwide

House Commission XII, together with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), has addressed the recent fuel shortages in several regions that have caused long queues and panic buying among the public. Commission XII Chairman Bambang Patijaya stated that the commission received a direct report from Pertamina during a working meeting on Thursday, 16 July 2026. Pertamina reported that fuel stocks in each depot are all in sufficient condition. “We can convey that we received a report from Pertamina Patra Niaga that the stock of various fuel products is sufficient, very sufficient, in their respective depots. In all depots across Indonesia, everything is sufficient,” Bambang said during a press conference on Thursday, 16 July 2026. Regarding the queues at several petrol stations in various cities, Bambang explained that this occurred due to several factors. Firstly, there has been a shift in consumer behaviour, with people who previously used non-subsidised fuel now switching to subsidised fuel. Additionally, he noted reports of alleged misuse of subsidised fuel by certain parties for resale to industries or other sectors. BPH Migas has conducted control and supervision, including sting operations, related to the alleged misuse cases. Bambang also requested that Pertamina Patra Niaga immediately optimise its operational services to the public, including increasing the number of operational petrol stations, in order to quickly resolve the queues at fuel stations.
