Jakarta (ANTARA) - House Commission XII has stated that the national fuel oil (BBM) supply is in a secure condition, prompting it to advocate for strengthened oversight of distribution to prevent misuse of BBM.

Chairman of House Commission XII Bambang Patijaya said the results of a hearing with the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas), SKK Migas, the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas), and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga indicated that national energy resilience remains intact.

“We received a report from BPH Migas regarding BBM distribution oversight; it’s secure, clear, with no issues. If misuse occurs, action has already been taken,” Bambang said after the meeting at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that the supply of BBM and LPG is generally secure, including in terms of procurement and distribution.

Bambang added that the government has also prepared mitigation measures against potential supply disruptions, including those from global distribution routes.

“The supply process for crude oil and BBM is clear, no problems, and this includes LPG,” he stated.

On the downstream side, BPH Migas reported that national BBM stock resilience is secure with sufficient availability to meet public needs.

Based on BPH Migas data, Pertalite stock resilience is around 18.1 days, Pertamax 22.1 days, and Pertamax Turbo reaches 46.5 days. Meanwhile, for diesel, stock resilience is about 16.5 days and Pertamina Dex reaches 64.5 days, while avtur stands at 28.1 days.

Nevertheless, Commission XII emphasised the importance of strengthening oversight of subsidised BBM distribution to ensure it reaches the intended targets.

According to him, oversight is conducted in an integrated manner involving law enforcement agencies to prevent misuse in the field.

“We are pushing for this so that we hope it will create a deterrent effect for those who deviate,” Bambang stressed.

In the meeting with the House, BPH Migas Head Wahyudi Anas said BBM distribution oversight continues to be strengthened through the use of technology, improved operational monitoring, and cooperation with law enforcement and the public.

“We request support from all elements of society to assist us along with law enforcement in carrying out monitoring activities,” Wahyudi said.

He explained that oversight is carried out to ensure the distribution of subsidised BBM and state compensation remains on target, in the correct volume, and provides the right benefits.

He noted that BPH Migas is also conducting field oversight and enforcement against alleged misuse of subsidised BBM in several regions, including Bitung, Lhokseumawe, Jember, and Banyuwangi.

One finding involved a truck suspected of filling or taking subsidised BBM in violation of regulations at a petrol station, which was then handed over to law enforcement.

“We also conducted a catch in the act; there was potential misuse. So one truck that took BBM at the petrol station (in violation of regulations) has been handed over to law enforcement,” he revealed.

He added that actions are also taken against petrol stations suspected of involvement in subsidised BBM distribution misuse, including halting supplies as a form of sanction.

“We do not permit those petrol stations to distribute subsidised BBM or state compensation,” Wahyudi said.

Furthermore, House Commission XII and the government urge the public to support the oversight of subsidised BBM distribution and to refrain from misuse amid efforts to maintain national energy resilience.
