Jakarta - Deputy Chairman of House Commission XII, Dony Maryadi Oekon, has requested that the government explain the basis for the increase in prices of non-subsidised fuel types Pertamax and Pertamax Green. Dony stated that his party is seeking an explanation regarding the calculation basis used in setting the non-subsidised fuel price hike. “We will clarify what the actual calculation is and we will genuinely support what is pro-people, that is the most important thing,” he said. The legislator for the energy and mineral resources sector said his party would soon summon the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PT Pertamina. The summons is to ensure the decision to raise prices is truly based on objective, transparent, and publicly accountable calculations. He also stressed that the House would continue to oversee the government’s energy policies to ensure they prioritise the people’s interests. He did not deny that world oil prices are rising due to recent geopolitical turmoil. He understands that Pertamina cannot continue to hold non-subsidised fuel prices when energy procurement costs have increased. “This non-PSO fuel has been tied to international prices for a long time. So the price follows how world oil conditions rise and fall,” he said. Nevertheless, he assessed that the public needs a transparent explanation regarding the formula and calculation basis used in determining the new price. Therefore, House Commission XII plans to summon the relevant parties to provide an open clarification. The House wants to obtain a concrete explanation so the public knows the reasons behind the policy. “Hopefully, after the meeting, we will get concrete answers from the relevant parties, namely the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Pertamina,” he said. According to a company press release, starting 10 June 2026, the price of non-subsidised Pertamax (RON 92) rose from Rp12,300 to Rp16,250 per litre, and Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) rose from Rp12,900 to Rp17,000 per litre. “The price adjustment for Pertamax and Pertamax Green was made after an evaluation process according to the price formula set by the government,” said Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth MV Dumatubun. Meanwhile, VP Commercial & Shipping Business Development of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Sigit Setiawan, revealed that Pertamina raised non-subsidised fuel prices like Pertamax to maintain stock availability. “Some time ago we could still hold it, but why can’t we hold it today? Because we must ensure the availability of the product in the market,” said Sigit in Bogor, West Java.
