House Commission XII and BPH Migas Confirm Sufficient Fuel Stocks Amid Queuing Concerns

The House of Representatives’ Commission XII, the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), and Pertamina Patra Niaga held a meeting at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday. Commission XII Chairman Bambang Patijaya confirmed that Pertamina Patra Niaga reported adequate stock levels for all fuel products at their respective depots. The meeting was attended by 32 commission members from eight factions, BPH Migas Head Wahyudi Anas, and Pertamina Patra Niaga Deputy CEO Taufik Aditiyawarman. Bambang noted that the commission questioned the recent queues at petrol stations in several regions. Pertamina explained that the queues were likely caused by a shift in consumer behaviour, with people moving from high-specification, non-subsidised fuel products to subsidised fuel. The meeting also discussed reports of alleged misuse of subsidised fuel, where certain parties are suspected of reselling it to industries or other sectors. BPH Migas will increase controls to address this issue. BPH Migas Head Wahyudi Anas stated that the queues are mostly occurring along logistics routes and assured that his agency and Pertamina are making their best efforts to distribute and supply fuel to all petrol stations. He confirmed that the situation is expected to return to normal within one to two days and urged the public not to engage in panic buying.
