House Commission XI urges SPPG partners to support MBG governance reform

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mukhamad Misbakhun, has asked partners of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to support the government’s efforts to improve the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme so that its implementation becomes more transparent and accountable.

“The government has decided there will be improvements, but it will not close the MBG programme because this is a campaign promise of President Prabowo,” said Misbakhun in his statement in Jakarta on Monday.

Misbakhun made the remarks during a dialogue with SPPG partners across Probolinggo Regency, East Java.

According to him, improvements are necessary because the MBG programme uses the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), so its implementation must meet the principles of transparency and accountability as well as have clear standards and procedures.

Misbakhun asked SPPG partners to follow the standardisation and governance reform processes carried out by the government as part of efforts to improve the programme’s implementation.

“Improvement efforts, enhancing standardisation, changing governance and so on, I ask that you follow them well. This is the spirit of improvement efforts,” he said.

He also asked SPPG partners not to worry about the programme’s sustainability and to continue providing nutrition fulfilment services in accordance with the established standards.

He said the MBG programme is part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of human resources through fulfilling children’s nutrition.

Misbakhun expressed hope that the governance reform and standardisation of SPPG will strengthen the implementation of the MBG programme so that the goal of fulfilling public nutrition can be achieved.
