Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chair of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mukhamad Misbakhun, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto plans to launch the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange (BMKS), named ICOMEX, on 17 September.

“There is a highly strategic agenda: the President plans to hold the ICOMEX launch on Thursday, 17 September. On that Thursday, ICOMEX will be officially inaugurated,” said Misbakhun during a working meeting with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In connection with this, Misbakhun said the regulatory infrastructure must be prepared thoroughly, which is why the OJK on Tuesday submitted a consultation to the DPR RI on two draft OJK Regulations (RPOJK) related to the BMKS.

The two regulations are the RPOJK on the Phased Transfer of Duties and Authorities for the Regulation and Supervision of Transactions on the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange, and the RPOJK on the Organisation of the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange.

Meanwhile, Sarjito, Executive Head of OJK Supervision for the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange, said the two RPOJKs are targeted to be enacted on 17 September 2026, coinciding with the launch or establishment of ICOMEX.

Afterwards, from around September to November 2026, the process will continue with internal OJK preparations and coordination with all relevant stakeholders, as well as the drafting of implementing regulations for the operation of the BMKS.

On 1 January 2027, the BMKS licence is targeted to be issued so it can begin operating. On 4 January 2027, trading on the mineral and strategic commodities exchange is expected to commence for the first time through the ICOMEX entity.
