House Commission XI and OJK Hold Closed-Door Meeting on Banking
House of Representatives Commission XI held a meeting with the Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, and the Chief Executive of Banking Supervision at OJK, Dian Ediana Rae. The meeting took place on Wednesday (8/7/2026) from approximately 10:30 WIB until 13:50 WIB. The agenda was to discuss the performance of the banking sector. Unfortunately, the lengthy meeting was held behind closed doors.
After the meeting, Dian was tight-lipped about its contents. ‘Oh dear, it was closed, so I am not allowed to speak,’ he said at the DPR RI Building on Wednesday (8/7/2026).
When asked about a request from banks to extend the placement tenor for the government’s excess budget balance (SAL) in banks belonging to the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara), Dian stated that the matter was still under discussion. ‘Well, this is probably still, still in the context of discussion, let’s discuss it first,’ he said.
According to him, extending the tenor for SAL placements in Himbara banks is not a problem. He assessed that such an extension would actually be good for banking credit expansion. ‘Actually, if the tenor is longer, it is better, in the sense that credit expansion becomes broader. The terms can be longer, actually,’ Dian explained.
However, he deferred the policy decision to the Ministry of Finance and the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK). Dian then emphasised that banking liquidity conditions are safe. ‘There is no problem, currently there is no liquidity problem.’
