House Commission X Approves Additional Indicative Budget Ceiling of Rp4.28 Trillion for BPS
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has approved a proposed additional indicative budget ceiling for Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in the Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN) for Fiscal Year 2027 amounting to Rp4,278,698,032,000 (Rp4.28 trillion).
“Commission X DPR RI approves the proposed additional indicative budget ceiling for BPS RI in the 2027 fiscal year RAPBN of Rp4,278,698,032,000,” said Commission X Chair Hetifah Sjaifudian during a Hearing Meeting with BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti in Jakarta on Monday.
In detail, the additional budget ceiling will be used for the Statistical Information Provision and Services Programme (PPIS) amounting to Rp3.58 trillion and the Management Support Programme amounting to Rp690.67 billion.
Furthermore, Commission X also approved the BPS indicative budget ceiling of Rp4.32 trillion, comprising Rp808.77 billion for PPIS and Rp3.51 trillion for the Management Support Programme. Consequently, BPS has submitted a total proposed indicative budget ceiling in the 2027 Fiscal Year RAPBN of Rp8.6 trillion.
Several views were expressed by Commission X regarding the indicative budget ceiling and the additional proposal for BPS, including that the current indicative budget ceiling is deemed insufficient to fulfil the statistical implementation programmes. Additionally, BPS is advised to develop a budget planning scheme by integrating several survey activities should the additional proposal not be fully met. Lastly, BPS was asked to ensure that its programmes and activities do not overlap with those of other ministries or agencies.
Commission XI also stressed that BPS must structure its additional budget requests and allocations according to mandatory spending priorities, and must refer to and be based on the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and the 2027 Government Work Plan (RKP), as well as other relevant statutory provisions.
In response, the Head of BPS expressed appreciation to all leaders and members of Commission X present at the meeting. She conveyed that the additional budget requirement is needed to accommodate essential needs in 2027, enabling the agency to conduct various routine surveys to support the priorities of President Prabowo Subianto in producing key development indicators.
“With this proposal, we certainly hope to receive the additional funding so that we can carry out statistical activities that are truly needed by the government and the public to the best possible standard,” Amalia stated.
